The online submission takes about 20 minutes if you have everything ready. Use this checklist with your co-authors first. At the end of the submission, the system combines everything into one Submission PDF for you to check before you submit.
1. Files
- Manuscript — Word file (.doc/.docx), anonymised: no author names, affiliations or identifying acknowledgements; with line numbers and page numbers. Start from the manuscript template.
- Manuscript — PDF of the same file (in Word: File → Save As → PDF). Required: it is used to build the Submission PDF and the review copy.
- Title page (Word or PDF): title, all authors with affiliations, emails and ORCID iDs, corresponding author, author contributions (CRediT), acknowledgements, funding, conflicts of interest. Use the title page template.
- Figures: one file per figure (JPG, PNG or TIFF, at least 300 dpi), numbered as in the text.
- Graphical abstract (recommended): one landscape image (at least 1200 × 600 px) summarising the study, with no author names.
- Supplementary material (if any): extra tables, figures, data or code — published as supplied.
- Ethics approval certificate (for research with humans or animals) and a cover letter (optional but recommended; one page, read only by the editors — use the cover letter template).
2. Text you will paste into the form
- Title and optional running title (≤ 60 characters).
- Abstract: 80–300 words (80–150 for short communications), no references.
- Keywords: 3–8, separated by semicolons.
- Highlights: 3–5 bullet points of up to 85 characters each, stating the core findings (required for research and review articles, short communications, case studies and methodological notes).
3. Authors
- For every author: given and family name, email, institution and country; ORCID iD recommended. Every co-author is emailed when you submit.
- The corresponding author's phone number.
- The CRediT roles of each author, agreed with all co-authors (see below and the worksheet).
CRediT — author contribution roles
IJAIDR uses the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT, NISO Z39.104-2022), the standard used by major publishers. In the submission form you tick, for each author, every role they performed; an author may have several roles and every author needs at least one. The resulting Author contributions statement is published with the article. People who contributed but do not meet the authorship criteria are thanked in the acknowledgements instead.
| Role | What it means |
|---|---|
| Conceptualization | Ideas; formulation of the overarching research goals and aims. |
| Data curation | Managing, annotating and maintaining research data for use and reuse. |
| Formal analysis | Statistical, mathematical, computational or other formal analysis of the data. |
| Funding acquisition | Acquiring the financial support for the project. |
| Investigation | Performing the experiments or collecting the data/evidence. |
| Methodology | Developing or designing the methodology; creating models. |
| Project administration | Managing and coordinating the planning and execution of the research. |
| Resources | Providing study materials, reagents, samples, instruments, computing or other tools. |
| Software | Programming and software development; implementing code and algorithms. |
| Supervision | Oversight and leadership of the research, including mentorship. |
| Validation | Verifying the replication and reproducibility of the results. |
| Visualization | Preparing the figures and data presentation. |
| Writing – original draft | Writing the initial draft. |
| Writing – review & editing | Critical review, commentary or revision of the manuscript. |
4. Reviewers and declarations
- At least 2 suggested reviewers: independent experts from other institutions (name, institution, country, email). Not collaborators from the last three years.
- Reviewers you would like excluded (optional, with a reason).
- Statements on ethics, conflicts of interest, funding, data availability (see the Data Availability Policy) and use of generative AI (see the AI Policy).
- If you need an APC waiver, a short reason (see APC).
5. Before you click Submit
- Build the Submission PDF on the last step, open it, and check that every page, figure and author detail is correct.
- Make sure all co-authors have approved the final version.
