Abstract

With this issue, the International Journal of Advances in Interdisciplinary Research (IJAIDR) begins publication under OriGene Academic Press. This editorial outlines the journal’s history since 2013 and the changes introduced with the relaunch: a structured double-blind peer-review process, Crossref DOIs, open access under the CC BY 4.0 licence, HTML and PDF full text, and transparent declarations of author contributions. It explains the new issue structure, restates the journal’s commitment to early-career and first-time authors, and invites researchers to contribute as authors, reviewers, editorial board members and guest editors.

A journal with a history

The International Journal of Advances in Interdisciplinary Research (IJAIDR; eISSN 2348-0696) was founded in Salem, Tamil Nadu, in 2013 and was first published by Sai Yaashitha Research Publications. In 2017, its articles were registered with Crossref DOIs under the prefix 10.29191. After a pause between 2018 and 2023, publication resumed in 2024 under Innovative Scientific Research Publications (ISRP) with continuous online publication.

From this issue, Volume 6, Issue 2 (October–December 2026), IJAIDR is published by OriGene Academic Press, the publishing imprint of OriGene Biosolutions. The title, the eISSN, the volume numbering and the archive are unchanged. Every article published earlier remains available on the journal website in its original form, so that existing citations continue to work.

What changes for authors and readers

Peer review: Every submission first receives an editorial check of scope, completeness, similarity and ethics. Manuscripts that pass this check are reviewed by at least two independent reviewers in a double-blind process, and the full, anonymised reviewer comments are shared with the authors with every decision. The journal follows the core practices of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics, n.d.).

Open access and persistent identifiers: All articles are free to read and are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0; Creative Commons, n.d.), which allows reuse with appropriate credit. Every article is assigned a Crossref DOI, so that it can be cited, linked and found reliably.

Transparency: Each article states the contribution of every author using the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT; National Information Standards Organization [NISO], 2022), together with funding, competing interests, ethics approval, data availability and any use of generative AI. Readers can see who did what, and how the work was supported.

Formats: Articles are published as a typeset PDF and, from this issue onwards, as HTML full text with linked citations, enlargeable figures and tables that remain readable on a phone.

An online editorial system: Authors submit, follow the status of their manuscript, respond to reviewers and approve their proofs in one place. A single Submission PDF lets authors check their complete submission before they send it.

Our commitment to new researchers

Every year, many good student and early-career projects remain unpublished, often because their authors have never been shown how submission, peer review and revision work. IJAIDR remains deliberately welcoming to these authors. The journal explains each step of the process, provides templates and a checklist for preparing a submission, and asks reviewers to be constructive as well as critical.

Being welcoming does not mean lowering standards. Every manuscript is judged on the soundness of its methods and the clarity of its reporting, not on the seniority of its authors. Well-conducted confirmatory studies and negative results are welcome, while manuscripts that are incomplete, poorly reported or not original will be declined, with reasons, so that their authors can improve them.

Scope

IJAIDR publishes research that draws on, or speaks to, more than one discipline, including the life sciences, biotechnology and bioinformatics; chemistry, physics and materials science; mathematics, statistics and computational sciences; computer science, artificial intelligence and data science; engineering applications; and commerce, management and the social sciences with a quantitative or applied focus. The journal publishes original research articles, review articles, short communications, case studies and methodological notes.

Issues and publication schedule

The year 2026 is a transition year. Volume 6 contains two issues: Issue 1 (January–September 2026) comprises the four articles published under ISRP in 2026 (ISRP published 25 articles in total since 2024), and Issue 2 (October–December 2026) is the first issue under OriGene Academic Press. From 2027, IJAIDR will publish six bi-monthly issues each year. Within an open issue, articles are published online as soon as they are ready, so that authors do not have to wait for an issue to be completed.

An invitation

We invite researchers at every career stage to submit their work to IJAIDR, to join the reviewer panel or the editorial board, and to propose special issues on emerging interdisciplinary topics as guest editors. Details are available on the journal website at https://ijaidr.org. I am grateful to the members of the editorial board, the reviewers and the authors who have supported this new beginning, and I look forward to building, together with our community, a journal that is rigorous, open and genuinely useful to the researchers it serves.
